we can do better than get frustrated

You’re working very hard…sending resumes, applications, updating LinkedIn, refreshing resumes...

But it’s not enough. It’s never enough.

The result?

Stalemate. A string of "no thank-you-s" or worst, ghosting.

Working hard is not yielding any results. Why?

Because, for some of us, the system is rigged.

Once you acknowledge this truth, you can stop working harder towards an unattainable result and you can engineer the system to work in your favor.

How?

This is the story of a recent client:

She had sent out 400+ applications in 8 months because she had been told by recruiting agencies that it was a 'numbers' game.

But all she got was crickets. And bot generated rejection scripts...she was beyond frustrated.

She finally acknowledged that this hamster wheeling was fruitless.

So, she pivoted her focus to engineering her opportunities.

First, she zeroed in on top 20 companies she wanted to work for.

Then she started reaching out building alliance pods - a network of executives in those top 20 companies who would talk to her about opportunities, culture, and which functional areas were hiring.

Finally, she bypassed the ATS, the recruiters, the gatekeepers and got in front of decision makers - senior executives who had the power to create jobs.

She articulated how she was the candidate to solve that company's current crises.

With this new approach, she landed a job - in 2.5 months - as a Senior Program Manager at a Fortune 1000 company.

My question to you: Do you want to get it done?

I’m talking about whatever you’re doing. Whatever you want. Whatever you dream of. Do you want to get it done? If the answer is yes, then don't get frustrated. Don't feel inadequate. Those things will not get you to where you want to go.

Here's what will: Action. Taken with intent. Engineering opportunities. Taking control.
